BYD’s Major Announcements from 2021 Shanghai Auto Show
2/ The e-platform 3.0 will enable EVs to accelerate 0-100km in under 2.9 seconds, with a range of 1000km (621mi). Yes, 1000km. With BYD's 800V flash charging technology, the platform can recharge 150km (93mi) in only 5 minutes. For comparison, Tesla recharges 75mi in 5 minutes. pic.twitter.com/p9zqfEIuT8

4/ Last year, BYD unveiled battery cell-to-pack (CTP) technology with its new Blade battery in BYD Han. The new e-platform 3.0 integrates Blade prismatic cells into the chassis of the "skateboard"—an industry first—doubling torsional stiffness of the chassis. pic.twitter.com/Tld5Udypgj

6/ BYD is doing the vehicle operating system, “BYD OS”, in-house, which comes at a bit of a shock. BYD OS is a complete decoupling of software and hardware, which will lower manufacturing costs, maintenance costs, and make OTA updates much easier and more frequent. pic.twitter.com/TVibsspiiP

8/ BYD will use e-platform in its own cars, as well as share the platform w/ other companies. Wang Chuanfu cited BYD's 3 recent JVs w/ @Daimler , @Toyota , & @DidiChuxingCo as companies that may utilize the platform. Like w/ Blade, Wang believes every major OEM will come knocking. pic.twitter.com/4OAExSfotZ

Almost every Westerner whom I've asked their opinion of its style are not fond of it, but young (and old) Chinese netizens seem to LOVE it. pic.twitter.com/A0Zxx2yv2h
12/ Wolfgang then unveiled BYD's new concept SUV, X DREAM. Unlike many other companies' concept cars, this concept car looks like it could actually make it to production.
